“To change your life, you need to change your priorities.” – Mark Twain
September Is the Season of Recalibration
Here we are – September. We got here fast!
The month when routines return, calendars fill, and the pressure to “finish strong” begins to rise.
But let’s pause for a moment. Because underneath all the busyness, there’s a bigger question:
Whose playbook are you really running?
I’ll be honest. I’ve had seasons where I was moving fast but not moving forward. Checking every box, but none of the boxes that mattered to me. Maybe you’ve felt it too. That gnawing sense that your goals don’t match your values. That the life you’re living doesn’t quite feel like the one you were designed for.
You’re not alone in that. I’ve been there. And the good news? You don’t have to stay there.
A Vision Without Priorities Won’t Carry You
In August, I was honored with a Visionary Award, recognized for knowing my history and daring to shape the future. I’m grateful for that recognition, but here’s what I want you to hear:
- Awards don’t mean alignment. Titles don’t mean fulfillment.
- And if your life is out of sync with your priorities, no amount of recognition will fill that gap.
The women who build legacies don’t just dream bigger. They prioritize differently. They make the courageous choice to protect what matters, even when the world tells them to chase everything else.
The Silent Cost of Misaligned Goals
When we don’t stop to realign, the price is steep. And I’ve seen it play out in my own life:
- Burnout disguised as productivity
- Overachievement that left me undernourished
- Titles that looked good on paper but felt hollow in my spirit
- “Success” that was never actually mine
If any of this resonates, take it as a signal, not a shame. It’s your invitation to shift.
What Changing the Playbook Really Looks Like
So, let’s get practical. Here are five bold moves that can reset your priorities and shift your life:
- Audit your scoreboard. Are you measuring hours worked or impact made?
- Redefine success. If it still centers on applause or titles, it’s time to rewrite it.
- Name your non-negotiables. What matters most? Family, health, peace, purpose? If they’re not protected, they’re sacrificed.
- Call out false urgency. Every fire drill isn’t yours to fight. Guard your time as if it were your crown.
- Choose alignment over applause. Validation fades. Alignment sustains.
This isn’t about doing more; it’s about doing what matters, with courage and clarity.
Change Is a Choice We Make Together
Here’s the truth: reprioritizing doesn’t happen when life slows down; it happens when we decide to live differently.
I’m making that choice every day, and if you’re reading this, I believe you’re ready too.
We don’t have to chase rules that were never made for us. We get to write new ones…together.
Here’s the What. Let’s Talk About the How.
You already know the what: your playbook needs to change.
